![]() is proud to present our Studio Series 2011-2012 This year's Studio Season is a bold experiment in laboratory theatre. The Theatre Lab allows students to explore acting techniques and dramatic literature that provide special challenges or are out of the mainstream of popular theatre fare, without worry of box office receipts, the pressure of larger crowds, or compromise of literature or technique. While the traditional approach to high school theatre focuses on gaining a rudimentary understanding of the art and craft of theatre, and assisting the student in building confidence and self-esteem, The Theatre Lab focuses on the actor and the idea. Our actors, technicians, beginning designers, stage managers - the core of our Thespian troupe - as a whole possess the drive and skills to move their talents beyond the traditional high school theatre experience. The Studio Series allows them that opportunity. |

Rimmer, a Pulitzer Prize finalist author of Album,
originally
wrote New
York to
raise funds for volunteer psychiatrists dedicated to helping the
overwhelming number of patients psychologically affected by 9/11.
Depicting the reactions of 15 individuals to the events of that day,
the characters all speak to a central psychiatrist, unburdening their
wonder and pain with remarkable candor and humor. An
engaging excercise for the serious young actor, this play brings
forward the personal aftermath of the most startling and tragic
terrorist event in our country's history.
"Brilliantly written... a thought-provoking event avoiding the sentimental and capturing realistic portraits of how we're all dealing with it... a touching exploration of the effects of September 11 on the lives of average New Yorkers."
