Theater II, Musical Theater III, Musical Theater IV (LVA Broadway Collective), Director, Choreographer

“I’m thrilled to be joining the LVA faculty after having relocated to Las Vegas from the East Coast in 2013. I graduated from Millikin University with a BFA in Musical Theatre with a concentration in Directing and a minor in Dance. As a member of Actors Equity Association, I’ve spent over a decade performing on Broadway, in regional productions, and performing with national tours throughout The United States, Canada, Europe and Japan. Having a great love for all things theatre, I have worked professionally as a performer, director, choreographer, dance captain and producer.

After leaving Broadway behind, and having come from a family of educators, the transition into the classroom was so natural I often say it felt like “being a fish in water.” As my first teaching assignment I was fortunate enough to be tasked with creating a fledgling theater program at an underserved urban high school in Asbury Park, New Jersey, both writing and teaching curricula in Theatre, Dance, and Musical Theatre. It was challenging work, but seeing the kind of impact that being involved with theatre could have for the kids that needed it so badly hooked me on the classroom for this second half of my professional life.

One of my favorite sayings; “There may be no business like show business…but ALL business is show business,” is reflective of my teaching philosophy and approach to high school theatre. I believe that the collaborative art of making professional quality theatre teaches students about life, interactions, dedication, focus, and collaboration, and should be considered as essential to education as any of the traditional “core subjects!” As theatre educators we shouldn’t have to choose between “process or product”.  We should strive to share with students the process of creating an exceptional product. That’s where the real learning happens. I am grateful for the amazing experiences that this crazy life in the theatre has afforded me, and I now find great joy in helping students on their way to beginning their own amazing journeys! Much love to family and friends, as I am grateful for you ALL!”

Course schedules, curriculum guides, etc. will be posted soon.
